Local Law 102 enacted in 2015 requires the Department of Education of the New York City School District to submit to the Council an annual report concerning physical education for the prior school year.
This report provides information about average frequency and average total minutes per week of physical education as defined in Local Law 102 as reported through the 2017-18 STARS database. It is important to note that schools self-report their scheduling information in STARS. The report also includes information regarding the number and ratio of certified physical education instructors and designated physical education instructional space.

This report provides data regarding students enrolled in New York City schools during the 2013-2014 school year, according to the guidelines set by Local Law 2011/042.
Consistent with other school-year reporting, these results include students enrolled and events that occurred between October 31, 2013 and July 1, 2014. Prior to October 31st, 12,322 students transferred between New York City schools, 4,416 students were discharged outside of NYC schools, and 3,620 students dropped out or were discharged under other codes.

At the school level, the DOE is required to report discharge and transfer counts by grade level (middle school only), cohort (high school only), disability status broken down by, age as of 12/31 of the previous calendar year age, race/ethnicity, and gender. Citywide, Borough, and District results represent the last discharge or transfer for each student. School level results represent all events for all students. District 79 programs are included in the Citywide, Borough and District results, but not shown in the school-level spreadsheets.

The report contains data for districts 1-32, 75 and 79. The analysis includes discharges and transferse from 10/31 (the day when official enrollment is established) to the end of the school year (defined as 7/3 to account for graduation discharges). Annual matriculation discharges, i.e. the ones when students are moving from Grade 8 to high school, are not included in the report.
