An annual list of civil service exams. The exam schedule is posted every July, lists all upcoming exams for the fiscal year, and is updated every month. Civil service exams may be available only for a limited time and it may be a few years before a certain exam is offered again.

This dataset contains information about NYCHA residents who took the Civil Service exam, which assesses a candidate’s qualifications for a particular Civil Service title in order to ensure that the hiring process is competitive and fair, for the reporting Calendar Year.

A List Certification includes the names of eligible candidates on an Active Civil Service List that has been established. The Certification may contain part of a list, the whole list, or multiple lists at the request of an appointing agency, to fill vacancies and/or replace provisionals. Eligible candidates on a Certification may be considered for probable appointment at the appointing Agency. A Civil Service List consists of all candidates who passed an exam, ranked in score order. An established list is considered active for no less than one year and no more than four years from the date of establishment. The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) is responsible for administering civil service examinations and creating eligible lists, which consist of candidates who passed a civil service examination. In addition, after the administration of a promotional examination, DCAS establishes lists known as promotion lists, which are agency-specific and a type of eligible list. Eligible lists are available to each city agency with open positions in corresponding titles and are usually active for four years. These datasets report data on eligible lists that are established and appointments, promotions, and removals from eligible lists.

The City Record Online (CROL) is a fully searchable database of notices published in the City Record newspaper, including, but not limited to: public hearings and meetings, public auctions and sales, solicitations and awards and official rules proposed and adopted by city agencies.

The Civil List reports the agency code (DPT), first initial and last name (NAME), agency name (ADDRESS), title code (TTL #), pay class (PC), and salary (SAL-RATE) of individuals who were employed by the City of New York at any given time during the indicated year.

The Office of Citywide Purchasing (OCP) solicits and awards contracts for a wide variety of goods and services on behalf of all City agencies.

This dataset contains current job postings available on the City of New York’s official jobs site (http://www.nyc.gov/html/careers/html/search/search.shtml). Internal postings available to city employees and external postings available to the general public are included.
