Hurricane Evacuation Zones are determined by New York City Emergency Management and represent varying threat levels of coastal flooding resulting from storm surge. Hurricane evacuation zones should not be confused with flood insurance risk zones, which are designated by FEMA and available in the form of Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).

NYCDOT sets parking meter rates across the five boroughs to be reflective of individual neighborhood parking conditions such as land use, density, and parking demand. Individual rate zones are represented in this dataset by large geographic areas. NYCDOT provides this map for informational purpose only. Confirm the rate at the parking meter or on the ParkNYC app before paying and observe all posted signs.

Each record is either an individual drinking fountain or multiple drinking fountains that are attached to each other. NYC Parks created the dataset using collector for arcgis. All outdoor drinking fountains in parks were collected and a rigorous QA/QC process followed. In addition to the GPS coordinates the dataset includes descriptions of its physical environment and attributes about the drinking fountain itself.

Record of Forestry tree points for NYC Parks & Recreation.

Tree Points and Planting Spaces form the basis of ForMS 2.0’s data inventory and are the core entities that all Service Requests, Inspections, and Work Orders are associated to. The system has built-in rules to ensure that every Tree Point has a Planting Space and each Planting Space can have no more than one active Tree Point at a given time. Locations that have had one tree removed and another tree replanted will appear in ForMS 2.0 as a single Planting Space associated with one retired Tree Point (that has a removal Work Order) and one active Tree Point.

This dataset can be joined to the Forestry Planting Spaces dataset by joining PlantingSpaceGlobalID from Forestry Tree Points to GLOBALID from Forestry Planting Spaces.

Effective July 14, 2009, physician offices that perform surgical or invasive procedures using more than mild sedation must be accredited by one of three accrediting agencies. The NYSDOH collects OBS practice site accreditation data from each of the accrediting agencies monthly. The OBS practice accreditation site data is used to keep an accurate list of accredited OBS practice sites for patient safety and regulatory efforts. On November 7, 2014, New York City’s default speed limit was changed from 30 mph to 25 mph. Unless otherwise signed, all streets in New York City are governed by this 25 mph speed limit. Driving at or below 25 MPH decreases stopping distance, gives drivers and pedestrians more time to see each other and react, and improves drivers’ ability to avoid crashes. Pedestrians struck by vehicles traveling at 25 MPH are half as likely to die as those struck at 30 MPH. If crashes do occur, the severity of injuries is reduced a lower speeds. The information shown here was compiled by the New York City Department of Transportation for governmental purposes. The information is updated as soon as reasonably practicable. The public is advised that speed limits are subject to temporary or permanent change and that posted signage must be observed for compliance with laws and regulations.

This dataset shows hurricane evacuation centers. Persons requiring shelter during a hurricane are processed at a
hurricane evacuation center and then transported to a hurricane shelter. In the event of a hurricane, the status of these hurricane evacuation centers should be confirmed at www.nyc.gov or by calling 311.

Geographic location of lead water service lines.

The Walk to a Park initiative focuses on increasing access to parks and open spaces, concentrating on areas of the city that are under-resourced and where residents are living further than a walk to a park. NYC Parks calculates the number of New Yorkers within walking distance of a park and reports on this as part of the Mayor’s Management Report. “Walking distance” is defined as a 1/4-mile or less for sites such as small playgrounds and sitting areas; or a 1/2-mile or less for larger parks that serve a wider region, typically over 8 acres or situated on the waterfront. Certain properties in NYC Parks' portfolio, such as cemeteries, community gardens, or sites with no recreational equipment were not included in this analysis. Similarly, some parks and open-space amenities not under the jurisdiction of NYC Parks were included in this analysis, as they provide recreational value.

This dataset includes two ESRI shapefiles of access points, one for sites that get a 1/4-mile buffer and one for sites that get a 1/2-mile buffer. It also includes an ESRI shapefile of the combined polygon that is the output of this analysis. This polygon represents the total area within walking distance of a park. To generate the number of New Yorkers within that distance, the polygon is compared with data from the U.S. Census.

Locations and types of refuse litter baskets tracked by DSNY

Data is collected by DSNY in order to track basket locations.
Data is collected through periodic surveys by field personnel. DSNY digitizes the locations of litter baskets using GIS software.
Each record represents the approximate location, ownership, and physical type of a single refuse litter basket.
The data can be used as an approximate assessment of the locations of litter baskets tracked by the Department of Sanitation in NYC.
"Litter basket locations are subject to frequent change, for reasons that include but are not limited to: litter basket damage, nearby construction, graffiti, or regular illegal use of basket for household or commercial waste. There is often a lag time between a change in basket type or location and the reflection of that change in this dataset.

This dataset includes information of BID-owned and Privately-owned litter baskets. Non-profit and private entities wishing to place a litter basket on a public street must receive permission from the Department of Sanitation. Location data for these baskets may be less accurate than for baskets that are owned by DSNY.

This dataset does not track public litter baskets placed by other City, State, or Federal agencies, notably including the NYC Department of Parks. Recycling baskets are also not tracked in this dataset."

This dataset provides a machine-readable format for the data that populates the "NYC Free Tax Preparation Site Finder" map hosted on DCA's website. The dataset includes the name and address of the service provider, its hours of operation, services available, and required geo-spacial data elements used by the map.

DCA's Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) DCA coordinates the City’s Annual Tax Season Initiative which offers free tax preparation services to qualifying New Yorkers. NYC Free Tax Prep sites are displayed on a map at nyc.gov/taxprep (https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/dca/TaxMap/index.html)

The map is updated whenever a new site is added or an existing site changes its hours of operation or services provided.
