The Open Parking and Camera Violations dataset was initially loaded with all violations contained in the mainframe database as of May 2016. Subsequent new violation issuance and updates to existing violations are applied to this data set on the following schedule:

New or open violations will be updated weekly (Sunday).
Violations satisfied by having been paid, dismissed via hearing, statutorily expired, or had other changes to its status, will be updated daily (Tuesday through Sunday).
Violations that have been written-off because they have statutorily expired and are no longer valid are indicated with blank financials.
Summons images will not be available during scheduled downtime on Sundays from 5:00 am to 10:00 am.

Issued to members of the clergy for parking their personal passenger vehicles when conducting ministerial duties at their houses of worship, funeral establishments or hospitals. Allows parking for up to five hours in No Parking Zones adjacent to their houses of worship, four hours adjacent to a funeral home and up to three hours adjacent to hospitals.

Parking Permits issued for a particular purpose in designated parking zones or at specific locations for prearranged periods of time,and is not issued for commercial activities or to commercial vehicles.These permits are issued pursuant to Section 4-08 (o)(4) of Title 34 of the Rules of the City of New York.

DOT manages approximately 1,000,000 signs on the streets of New York. This dataset contains current and historical signs, including regulatory, warning, guide and parking.

NYCDOT sets parking meter rates across the five boroughs to be reflective of individual neighborhood parking conditions such as land use, density, and parking demand. Individual meter rates are posted on each parking meter and are represented in this dataset by blockface segments. NYCDOT provides this map for informational purpose only. Confirm the rate at the parking meter or on the ParkNYC app before paying and observe all posted signs.

Department of Transportation issues Temporary Parking Permit for People with Disabilities within New York City (PPPD- City) for those whose permits have expired while awaiting a recertification decision by Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) for up to three (3) month.

Annual On-Street Parking Permits (AOSPP) are issued to not-for-profit organizations. The permit allows vehicles limited standing and parking privileges in loading zones and at parking meters while carrying out the organization's mission.

Parking Permits for People with Disabilities (PPPD- City) are issued to people who have a disability that severely and permanently impairs mobility and requires the use of a private automobile for transportation. Non-drivers, such as children with qualifying disabilities, are also eligible for consideration.

Agency Business Parking Permits (ABPP) are issued to government employees who need to park while conducting official business and are valid for three-hour parking in No Parking, Truck Loading, and metered zones.

The Bicycle Access to Office Buildings Law aims to increase bicycle commuting by providing cyclists with the opportunity to securely park their bicycles in or close to their workplaces. The law allows tenants to request for access from landlords in commercial buildings, and for DOT to monitor the requests for access and their status.

NOTE: This data does not present a full picture of 311 calls or service requests, in part because of operational and system complexities associated with remote call taking necessitated by the unprecedented volume 311 is handling during the Covid-19 crisis. The City is working to address this issue.

This dataset contains agency authorized on-street parking placards (AAOSP) and citywide agency parking permits (CAPP) applications and/ issuances. Agency authorized on-street parking permits are for agency business issued to government employees, teachers and private school facilities. Citywide agency parking permits are for agency businesses issued to agency heads and top deputies, Elected Officials, New York Fire Department (FDNY) and Department of Investigation (DOI) for official agency business, valid 24 hours/ 7 days a week.

Note: Agency Authorized On Street Parking (AAOSP) no longer allows to park at loading zones below 60th Street in Manhattan as per Local Law 167 of 2021. The law does not restrict this manner of parking in Manhattan locations north of 60th street, nor in any other the other boroughs.
